Area = length x width

The length is equal to 9 feet and the width is equal to 7 feet.

So you would have to multiply 9 feet by 7 feet to get 63 square feet.

I think you may have mixed up area with perimeter. Perimeter is when you are adding all of the side lengths together. So the perimeter would have been 2(9) + 2(7) = 18 + 14 = 32 units. Remember the units for perimeter is not square units and only area would have square units, so that should give you a hint as to what you should do.
