B.) Philippines

After the Spanish-American War, the Spanish Empire was basically dissolved after the U.S. took much of Spain's overseas holdings. Puerto Rico and Guam were ceded, or given up, to the U.S. The Philippines were bought by the United States for approximately $20 million and Cuba became a U.S. protectorate, or country that is controlled and protected by another.

I hope this helped!! :))

The answer is B. The U.S. and Spain made a treaty that gave the U.S. Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Philippines would be bought for 20 million. The U.S. made a deal with Cuba beforehand to allow them to be an independent nation if the U.S. won the war.
