first we will distribute the first part of the equation
-2 (x + 4)
-2x - 8
now put it back into the equation
-2x - 8 = -2x -8
add 8 to both sides
-2x + 0 = -2x + 0
add 2x to both sides
0 + 0 = 0 + 0
0 = 0
