It causes erosion by the movement in the plates or the desturbence of a well or plumbing which can lead to a sink hole

As water flows through the soil, acid is formed. This acid can cause minerals to be dissolved. Minerals that are carried in groundwater can also be deposited in other places. This cycle of erosion and deposition can cause underground caves to form.
