A kite has side lengths of 2 feet and 4 feet. Each side length is increased by the same number of feet. The expression represents the perimeter of the larger kite:

(x + 2) + (x + 2) + (x + 4) + (x + 4)

Which expression is equivalent to the expression for the perimeter of the larger kite?

You can ignore the parenthesis so you have
x + 2 + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 4 (combine like terms)4x+12 (factor out the 4)4(x+3) (This is your answer)

The x terms add up to 4x and the numbers add up to 12 .

4x + 12 = 4(x + 3)
