The answer is A. It is not B because B implies that the speaking of the director is natural, which isn't what the sentence is trying to convey. Same goes for answer C and if you were to leave the sentence the way it is. A is the only answer that implies that it is a natural thing to do to inform a cast member about a change in a performance before the opening night.
