The correct option is B) the ships were at the mercy of the weather.

The Middle Passage was the name given to the trips that took the slaves from African to the Americas. The slaves travelled in terrible sanitary conditions and some of them died during the trips. The Middle Passage usually took six to eight weeks but of weather conditions were bad it could take longer.
