Given: In first gear, or low gear, an automobile's engine runs about three times as fast as the drive shaft.

If Drive-shaft speed d= 650 r.p.m.

Then, the engine speed (e) is given by :-


e=3d

If Drive-shaft speed d= 650 r.p.m. , the the engine speed will be:-


e=3*650=1950\ r.p.m.

Hence, in first gear Engine speed =1950 r.p.m.
