Why is prejudice said to be irrational

Prejudice is said to be irrational mainly because it's biased. It's a harsh judge of character without knowing the persons personality. This is unprofessional, unkind, and downright wrong. If this did not answer a question, I am sorry. Though, keep in mind that this is very opinionated.
