a scientist is mixing a chemical solution for an experiment. The solution contains 3/8 ounce of a chemical and 1/6 ounce saline solution. What is the unit rate of chemical to saline solution?

The unit rate would be 2 1/4 chemical to 1 ounce saline solution.
In order to solve this problem you have to make the information into a ratio, 3/8:1/6.
Then you have to divide 1/6 by 1/6 to get 1.
Whatever you do to one side of the ratio you have to do to the other, so you divide 3/8 by 1/6 to get you 2 1/4.
