When a writer uses these two forms of writing at the same time, they can adequately address a topic. The purpose of informative/explanatory writing is to increase the comprehension of the reader.

In-text citations in informative or explanatory writing is important to help the readers easily find the sources that correspond to your passage. It is necessary when you use someone else's ideas or theories in your passage.This also helps you avoid plagiarism and you credit your sources.
