I stayed in Scotland previously and most of the excursions are an hour by coach down the coast so you would be looking at a full day.
However, we really enjoyed cenote swimming and nearby is Rio Secreto (they have a website so have a look). We are planning on doing this when we arrive in November as it is not far away and would not use up the whole day.
