REALLY NEED HELP!! describe the pressures japan was under to open up in the late 19th century. why did japan eventually decide to open up?

Japan decided to open up because they where kinda forced too. This also led to a civil war to decide to open up or to stay isolated. They where very aware about the benefits of opening up but they didn't want to end up like China all divided.
