The Constitutional Convention was called to make a new Constitution that would create a stronger Federal government after the States realized that the previous Articles of Confederation made the Federal government too weak.

Every state at the time apart from Rhode Island sent delegates to represent them and these delegates were the ones who signed the Constitution. They included Founding fathers such as George Washington, James Madison and Benjamin Franklin.
