Because many social movements encounter official and unofficial opposition, free spaces are what some theorists describe as places relatively free from surveillance where oppositional ideas and tactics can develop and spread. By putting it simply, the free spaces are locations between large-scale organizations and private lives and where the normal people can perform with individuality, self-respect, and vision.
