B = 3D
B = D + 4 Put 3D in for B in the second equation.
3D = D + 4 Subtract D from both sides.
3D - D = 5
2D = 5 Divide by 2
D = 5/2
D = 2.5 Either answer will do.

B = 3*D
B = 2.5 * 3
B = 7.5 years old.
