The outer membrane of mitochondria is smooth and is composed of phospho lipid bilayer that has same composition as found in cell membrane. it contains
1. Porins: That allow the movement of small proteins through diffusion.
2. Membrane protein complex: This protein complex allow the movement of large protein molecule inside or outside the cell.
