Total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) represents calories burned vs calories consumed or the total number of calories you burn for energy each day. It consists of three main components:

1. Resting metabolic rate (RMR) or Basal metabolic rate (BMR)- It is the energy which is associated with the maintenance of major body functions.

2. The thermic effect of activity (TEA) or Activity thermogenesis- It is the energy expenditure due to physical work, muscular activity or physical exercise and it is controlled by a person.

3. The thermic effect of feeding (TEF) or Thermogenic foods-It is the energy expenditure after several meals and it refers to calories used to digest different kind of foods you eat.
