Sensory and motor functions in the mature human adult are controlled by the nervous system.

The nervous system is the system with the function to coordinate the actions of different parts of its body. It does its work by transmitting signals from the sensory organs, which detects environmental changes and connecting those signals with the effectors that respond. Nerves that transmit information from the body to the CNS are called sensory nerves while those that transmit signals from the CNS are the motor or efferent nerves.
