During World War II, all of the U.S. was needed to help fight the war (total war). Everyone had a job to do, wether it was fighting in the army, or working in factories etc. The demand for work helped fix the economy after the Great Depression, granting the U.S. with an era of prosperity after the war.

hope this helps!
