The printing press was invented by the Johannes Gutenberg in Germany. The printing press was of inestimable service in spreading Protestantism by printed translations of Luther's 95 theses. For the first time a Holy Bible was produced in large amount and accessible for anyone in different languages. Bibles were few and could go up to a year for a cleric to reproduce, where a printing press was able to do in a short time. With Bibles in the hands of the people outside the church led them to understand the true meaning of the Bible and to see the indulgences they were facing in the hands of the catholic church.
