Cervical: Made up of smaller bones that support the weight of the head. They are flexible to allow a wide range of head movement.

Thoracic: A group of 12 smaller bones that form the spine in the upper trunk. They are the only spinal bones that support the ribs.

Lumbar: The bones of the lower vertebrae. As the large and lower spinal bones, they support most of the weight of the upper body and allow for bending.
