Let the bench be b and garden table equal to g.
g=50+b
g+b=950
50+b+b=950
50+2b=950
2b=900
b=$450 is the Cost of the Bench

950 - 50 = 900
900 / 2 = 450
The bench cost $450 and the garden table cost $500
Your answer is $450
