Japan was interested in capturing Manchuria from China in the 1930s because Japanese leaders believed that acquiring more an additional territory would help Japan to improve its economy. Japan also needed additional place to get more natural resources because they lack of it and getting Manchuria means that they would acquire a new place to get more natural resources.
