1. Isolate the variable. Do this by using inverse operations (the opposite operation). You must do the same operation on both sides so they will remain equal. The inverse operations cancel each other out.
W-2=-3
+2 +2
W= -1

Gotta "isolate" your W (the variable).

To do that, work across the equals sign. Add that 2 to both sides, and it cancels out on the left. On the right, add 2 to the -3.


-3 + 2 = -1

W = -1
