When we would look at a clear fraction without whole numbers like the fraction that would be shown above, fractions are also known to be division. Therefore, if we were to divide both 9 ÷ 3, this would this give us 3. And, one-third is 3 of 9. We could then conclude to say that 3 would then be your answer. 1/3 would be 3+3+3 = 9 but if we were to take out one 3, this would then leave us with 1/3 as we took only 1 of the third.
