In the figure 32-7, the D label is the sweat gland, which is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. It regulates body temperature to maintain homeostasis of the human body. When internal temperature of the body rises, the glands secretes sweat onto the surface to increase heat loss by evaporation, this gives cooling effect to the body. Sweat secretion slows down when the body temperature returns to normal.
