Read the excerpt from "The Long Haul."

Some say this new generation
hasn't done much but send a text message
or two. Our generation wasn't perfect
but it was sincere. We see so much potential
in these young and brilliant minds. They’ll
do great things if they're willing to dig.

What does the act of digging represent in this poem?

attending school regularly
letting go of the past
working hard toward a goal
using new inventions

According to the context of the excerpt from "The Long Haul" which deals with the young generation, the act of digging refers to working hard toward a goal, since the speaker asserts that in spite of the fact that the new generation is not perfect, the young have great potential and brilliant minds to achieve great goals but only if they work hard to attain it.

Option C is correct.
