Which example contains the same type of reasoning found in this portion of section one? Many people think that all combative sports should be strictly monitored and regulated by state commissions. It is obvious that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is an organization that promotes combative athletic events. State athletic commissions should strictly monitor and regulate the UFC.

The example which contains the same type of reasoning found in the portion of section one is the following one:

C) All the students in Ms. Smith's class are male. James is in Ms. Smith's class. James is a male.

It is an example of syllogism, a kind of reasoning created by Aristotle. In it there is a major premise, a minor premise and a conclusion. In the sentence above, it works as follows:

Major premise: All the students in Ms. Smith's class are male.

Minor premise: James is in Ms. Smith's class.

Conclusion: James is a male.

As for the portion of section one, a syllogism would work as follows:

Major premise: Many people think that all combative sports should be strictly monitored and regulated by state commissions.

Minor premise: It is obvious that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is an organization that promotes combative athletic events.

Conclusion: State athletic commissions should strictly monitor and regulate the UFC.
