The mourning of wars gave Iroquois warriors the opportunity to seek vengeance and revenge among its enemies. It also gave young warriors that chance to prove themselves as warriors. Lastly, the Iroquois warriors would abduct people from their enemies. This was seen as compensation in a sense to restore the vitality of those lives they lost.
