I believe the answer is: inability to reverse mental operations.

According to piaget, as our cognitive ability develop, it would be impossible for us to perceive the things around as as we do before the cognitive development happened.
For example, it's impossible for adults to start being surprised when other people is doing a peek-a-boo just like they did when they're infants.
