Salma paid 14.75 for a 2.12 pound bag of shrimp at one store. The following week, she paid 24.99 for a 3.77 pound bag at another store. Find the unit price for each bag. Then state which bag is the better buy based on the unit price. Round your answers to the nearest cent.

To find the unit price of each bag, divide each cost by the weight to find the cost of shrimp per pound.

For the 2.12 pound bag: 14.75 / 2.12 = $6.96 (rounded to the nearest cent)

For the 3.77 pound bag: 24.99 / 3.77 = $6.63 (rounded to the nearest cent)

You can tell that buying the 3.77 pound bag is better based on the unit price because of 6.63 < 6.96.

2.12 pound = $14.75
1 pound = $14.75 ÷ 2.12 = $6.96

3.77 pound = $24.99
1 pound = $24.99 ÷ 3.77 = $6.63

The store that Salma visited on the second week has a better price.
