A baseball sitting on the roof of the stadium has 60 J of potential energy. A pigeon lands on the baseball and knocks it off. How fast will the baseball be traveling the instant before it strikes

the ground? Assume the baseball weighs 150 grams, and that all of the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.

All the Potential Energy is converted into kinetic energy, this means that P. E = K. E = 60J
K. E = 1/2 x mass x (velocity)2
60 = 0.5 x 0.15 x (velocity)2

Velocity = 28.3 m/s
The baseball speed was 28.3 m/s before it strikes the ground
