In one particular suburb, 50% of families own a pug. If there are a total of 24 families in the neighborhood that own a dog in general, then how many dog owners own a pug?

50% can also be written as (1/2)

Multiply the two known values:

24 x (1/2)

This is equal to (24/2). Simplify the fraction by dividing:

(24/2) = 12

12 dog owners own a pug.

I hope this helps!
