John has different types of stocks. He has the same number of Google stocks, trading at $4 a stock, Apple stocks, trading at $10 a stock and Toyota stocks trading at $3 a stock. If he has a total net worth of $1,207 in stocks, how many stocks does he have in total?

Answer:

71 total

Explanation:

Well first of all I wish I was John. I wish I could buy all 3 of those companies at such low prices.

1.) First you take the prices of the stocks he owns and add them up together.

$10+4+$3=17

2.) Then you have to take the total DOLLAR ($$$$$$) AMOUNT and divide it by the Total you got in the previous step ($17) .

$(1207) / ($17)= 71 (shares*)

*Never refer to it as stocks its shares ---- The stock is the company ---- The amount in which he owns is reffered to as shares.

4x + 10x + 3x = 1207 \\ 17x = 1207 \\ x = 71
He has 71 stocks in total.

Hope this helps. - M
