Due to the civil war, many men were scouted leaving less workers in factories. Therefore, women took the roles of men and began working in factories. Also, the industry helped supply the north during the war because workers were producing bullets for firearms and there were more provisions for soldiers. Thus the industry helped lead the North to victory in the civil war.
