Lots of options to this question, but here are some generalized options.
Frontier farmers were typically immigrants especially Germans who were farmers in their home country.
Those that were able to move into the frontier and purchase farm land were often wealthier than those that remained in New England in urban areas.
These farmers were often isolated from the growing urban culture and had few interactions with others. Church and the market were the common social places for farmers to meet others in their community.
Farmers on the frontier had more dangerous living conditions. They dealt with hostile foreign groups and harsh conditions.
