There were internal as well as external factors responsible for the destruction of the Mughal Empire. In the internal factors, we can include autocratic rule, deterioration of the Army, the dissolution of the nobility, lack of a specific Law of Succession, Aurangzeb’s religious and Deccan policy, the size of the empire, the economic bankruptcy and the emergence of Independent Kingdoms. At the same time, the external factors include those of the invasions of Nadir Shah and Ahmad Shah Abdali, such invasions resulted in massive damage on human lives and draining out immense resources of the royal treasury.
