The assumption that would be drawn from the above information is that the sperm require more energy than egg cell. Each sperm cell has a haploid nucleus, a tail (for motility) which propels it through the cervix, uterus and Fallopian tube towards the egg. Each sperm also has many mitochondria to release the energy needed for its movement and propulsion.
