Hello!

We know that the length of the pack is 8 cm, width is 2 cm, and the volume is 48 cm^3.

The formula for volume is:

V = l × w × h

We don't want to find the volume...we already have that!

But we can use the volume and the length and width to find the height.

Since we multiply the dimensions to find the volume, we'll have to do the opposite to find a dimension.

And what's the opposite of multiplication? Division!

H = V ÷ lw

Multiply the length by the width, then divide the volume by that.

H = 48 ÷ 8(2)

H = 48 ÷ 16

H = 3

We can double check by using this to find the volume.

V = 8 × 2 × 3

V = 48

This means we're right!

ANSWER:

The height of the pack of gum is 3 centimetres.
