First, you do x^2-8 which = -8. Then, you drop the rest. After that, you combine like terms.Which that gives you 49. So your equation looks like this...33-8x=0. You then subtract 33 to both sides and your equation looks like this, -8x= -33. Now all you do is divide by -8 and your answer is x=4.125.

Can there be more than one solution?

x = [-(-8) +/- sqrt((-8)^2 -4*41)] / 2

x = ( 8 + sqrt (-100) / 2 and (8 - sqrt(-100) / 2
