Paul's kite glided 82.1 m. Nan's kite glided 86 m. How many more centimeters did Nan's kite glide than Paul's?

We can't divide up the meters, since our worst measurement is plus or minus a whole meter. So we round the answer up. (If Nan's kite had gone 86.0 m, accuracy would be to tenths of
meters for both arguments and the an
swer).

86m - 82.1m = 4m = 400cm

You subtract Nan's from Paul's. So...
86m - 82.1m
=3.9m
