Hey there!
1/4 = 2/8 so we can add 2/8 and 7/8 to solve this problem ( 2/8 + 7/8 )
2 + 7 = 9
The denominator is the same on both fractions, so the final fraction will also have the same denominator . . . 1/4 + 7/8 = 9/8
Simplifying 9/8 . . .
9/8 = 1 1/8
1/4 + 7/8 = 1 1/8 <-------
1 1/8 is your final answer.
Hope this helps you.
Have a great day!

1/4 is equal to 2/8, and you only add the numerators in fractions, so the answer is 2/8 + 7/8 which is 9/8, or 1 1/8.
