France-- The French Revolution was occurring during Washington's presidency.

Washington sided with the Federalists who tended to support Britain and a stable form of government. The French Revolution was proving to be extreme and violent which Washington feared would impact the newly formed US. He warned for the US to stay out of European affairs and be careful who they created alliances with in the future.
