If you tell someone they are being rude or ignorant and you are DESCRIBING them because they really are, is that calling them a name or is it actually describing them?

In my personal opinion, if you are simply telling them to back off because of the way they are acting, then it isn't name calling. If you are in a fight or argument and you are angry with the person for something, then it is probably just an emotional response and therefor simply name calling.

it depends on how you are doing so. if you say "you're a rude, ignorant pig" then you're calling them names
but if you say "you're being rude and ignorant" then you're describing them
