A depressant effect of starvation is psychological health problems. Anorexia is a mental condition where the patient starves themselves to maintain a below average body weight. This condition makes the patient see themselves as fat and yet their weight is below average.
Another depressant effect is sleep deprivation. During starvation the body lacks enough energy to sustain itself during every day activities. This makes on to feel tired and week which leads to lack of sleep

The Depressant effect of starvation is impaired cognitive abilities, anxiety and chronic depression. The lack of nutrient supply and dehydration caused by it are such that thinking abilities are lowered causing irrational behaviors like irritation, aggression and anxiety. Starvation can also induce depression.
