Fossil fuels are a nonrenewable resource that was burn.
This burning, similar to other fuel sources such as oil and gas, can cause:

Global warming (pushing climate change)

Excess pollutants (carbon dioxide, Sulphur dioxide)
These get released into the atmosphere when fossil fuels are burnt, and their effects (green house gases usually) contribute to the Greenhouse Effect.
