Solve the problem making a chart.

In 4 years Cranston’s age will be the same as Terrill’s age now. In 2 years, Terrill will be twice as old as Cranston. Find their ages now.

T = Terrill's age
C = Cranston's age

Using the info provided:
C + 4 = T
T + 2 = 2C

Isolate variable:

T = 2C - 2

Your two equations:
C + 4 = T
T = 2C - 2

Set them equal to eachother:
C + 4 = 2C - 2

Solve for C

Cranston's Age = 6

Solve for T using your equation:

Terrill's age = 10
