Spasmodic croup is believed to be caused by allergy, as in the case of asthma, or by GER (gastroesophageal reflux). Therefore, the nurse should teach the parent on how to handle the baby especially against changing the baby's position abruptly after feeding. The parents should also be taught how to avoid substances that cause the baby allergic reactions that lead to the croup.
