Themistocles is a Athenian statesman who a persuaded Athens to build a navy and then led it to victory over the Persians (527-460 BC).he is an important figure in Greek history because While others wanted the Greeks to continue fighting the Persians on land, Themistocles was confident in his navy and regrouped them at Salamis.
Hope that helps!
